Beautiful night at the Versace mansion. I’ve lived in Miami for 7 years and this was the very first time I’ve ever been inside. I definitely would not complain if I lived there 😉

How To Vintage

Vinage Jean Look

Looking to get the vintage look from something that’s really not-so-vintage? Try this.

First off let me just say that I feel it is a lot easier to go through thrift stores finding “vintage look” items that really are vintage, than it is to spend hours converting your modern clothes to look vintage.

Nothing can compare to real vintage.

If you want to make a cotton-t soft and faded (like vintage ones), you soak the t-shirt in a mixture of 1 part water, 1 part salt, and 1 part bleach….just make sure you don’t soak it too long or the beach will REALLY wear it out. If you want to leave it in the sun first then wash it that works too. Logos can be applied either through iron-on transfers, stenciling, silk screening etc. If you wash a shirt in hot water quite often the design cracks, which could make the shirt look older.

If you want to make a larger neck on t-shirts, take scissors and cut off right under the hem. Be careful though, once it’s cut there’s no turning back.

For the jeans, if you’re looking to put holes in them or just wear them out, grab a cheese grader. Literally grade the jeans as if it were cheese, but watch out because it gets sharp. Or, you can try using sand paper…this just might take a little longer. Then the jeans were washed several times in the washing machine, until they reached the “vintage” look.

If you want a dark vintage color to your jeans, we need to make some coffe. Disgusting, coffee dye that is.

Take a large bucket, and fill it with enough water to soak your jeans. Then, take espresso style coffee and make a stocking coffee bag (get an old pair of stockings, fill the foot up with the coffee, tie at the end) and soak it in the water until it turns, well, the color of coffee. Then let your jeans soak in it over night. The next day, wash and dry them normally. And ta da! There you have it.

Also, bleach pens work great if you want to bleach a desired area. If you want the bleach splatter look, get a tooth brush and dip it in bleach then splash that on the clothing you desire to be splattered. But don’t get it on anything else!!! That can be dangerous.

One Of Those Nights

Gotta love empty art galleries and friends. There is never a boring night in Miami…. if you’re with the right people.

I inherited a ton of beautiful skirts from my boyfriends mother (thankyousomuch!) and am using them quite to their capacity. This one’s made by Vertigo Paris, and the shirts a leotard from DKNY. The shoes were the best $10 sale of my life, LOVE white heels. And especially love if they’re cheap AND good quality. Striped top + solid pencil skirt is gorgeous, if you can play it up.   I wore this DNKY top because it’s collared and has buttons, but doesn’t scream secretary. I like..

Pencil Skirt

Can I wear these everyday? Please? People will assume I’m always going to work.

Actually, that’s not a bad idea. I could make it work. Pencil skirts are amazingly gorgeous, and always a classic.
